Specification Writer

At ADCI, we work on a tremendous array of projects, from massive destination resorts to small brew pubs. Our markets include hospitality, senior housing/multi-family, community based and other commercial building projects. You will be in a unique position to touch nearly every single project that flows through our doors. Working with our Senior Specification Writer, you will be preparing project specifications (including general conditions), enhancing and maintaining master specifications and determining innovative ways to meet client needs through the construction specification delivery process including integration with our Revit platform.

We're looking for individuals with a strong knowledge of architectural design, engineering coordination, design trends, products, construction methodology, building systems, material application and manufacturer/supplier capabilities.

Responsibility Highlights

  • Interpret architectural and interior design plans and prepare material lists and specifications to be used.
  • Modify or write architectural specifications and compile specifications documents.
  • Coordinate with and assist other staff in determining appropriate specifications to be used on specific projects.
  • Maintain master specification, materials and product information files.
  • Participate in the education and training of staff through the presentation and dissemination of new products, materials, systems and specification developments.
  • Maintain awareness of the products on the market; maintain and develop the firm library of catalogs and other information for designers and architects to use.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in architecture, engineering or related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of ten years' experience in prior building construction settings, including but not limited to architecture firms, architecture/engineering firms, construction management or specification consulting firms.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as an architectural specifications writer.
  • Public bid coordination experience preferred.
  • CSI certification preferred.

Senior Project Architect

Our Senior Architects are true leaders. Your role is to oversee and coordinate the entire project design process across multiple projects simultaneously. You will be interacting with clients daily and responsible for managing design and document production, achieving client satisfaction, producing and maintaining project schedules, and managing project profitability.

Responsibility Highlights

  • Lead your team in the overall architectural design of the project, utilizing full resources of the firm.
  • Perform various project coordination duties: project analysis, programming, site analysis, scheduling and establishing project objectives; coordinate activities of all professional disciplines assigned to the project; identify the client's expectations for quality, price and schedule.
  • Maintain the information flow to the project team; assure that construction documents accurately reflect the contract scope and design intent; review construction documents periodically to ensure accuracy; coordinate all technical information from vendors and owners; coordinate building code reviews with appropriate agencies; conduct reviews with the client; take on the responsibilities of the architect of record.
  • Meet the project design schedule, design fee budget and project construction budgets.
  • In conjunction with Principal-in-Charge, manage the project agreements.
  • Prepare or review construction budgets when required.
  • Manage construction bidding process in competitive bidding scenario.
  • Assist in the education and development of design staff and act as resource for design questions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture degree from an NAAB-accredited School of Architecture.
  • Minimum 10 years relevant work experience after obtaining professional license to include coordination of multiple projects, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Hospitality experience preferred.
  • Experience managing projects in excess of $10MM construction value preferred.
  • Registered Architect. Registration in the State of California preferred.
  • NCARB certification preferred.

Senior Construction Administrator

You will be an indispensable part of the project team, representing ADCI and maintaining client relations throughout the entire construction process, managing key contractor relationships, mitigating project issues and managing risks to the company. Responsibility Highlights

  • Accumulate, evaluate and present feedback related to construction document improvements and the performance of equipment/materials and systems.
  • Interpret plans and specifications as they relate to materials and workmanship.
  • Conduct on‐site observations and prepare reports, conduct meetings, expeditiously make document interpretations and resolve or refer construction administration issues.
  • Observe work in progress to ensure conformance with plans and specifications.
  • Examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards.
  • Coordinate with design team to ensure project completion in compliance with contract documents and AHJ requirements.
  • Assist Project Architect/Team Leader with bidding process, coordinating addendum and pre-bid conferences.
  • Conduct preconstruction conferences.
  • Review shop drawings, manuals, guarantees, bonds and other project and post-construction submittals for approval and dispositions.
  • Assemble and verify construction contract change order information for approval by Project Manager and Owner.
  • Review contractor payment requests for preparation of Certificate of Payment.
  • Responsible for and maintain favorable working relations with client and contractor representatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of building construction administration experience with progressively greater responsibility.
  • General understanding of ICC Building Code and its application to construction.
  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Construction Administration or Architecture preferred.
  • CSI Certified Construction Contract Administrator preferred.

Senior Designer

This position works closely with project architects and interior designers to develop detailed drawings for buildings in a variety of industries. Responsibility Highlights

  • Use Revit to develop designs and create drawings including plan assembly, design development, assisting team leader with code analysis, evaluating site space requirements, and specifications.
  • Coordinate with electrical, mechanical and structural subconsultants to decide on the best method for assembling plans.
  • Act as resource and mentor for less experienced team members.
  • Under limited supervision, perform non‐routine and complex assignments. Develop details and calculations required for project delivery.
  • Working independently on smaller projects and part of a team on larger projects, you may assign and oversee the work of others and make independent decisions on almost all issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Architectural Design or related program. Minimum of seven years of architectural document production experience.

Interior Designer

Our interior designers are creative and dynamic thinkers who provide fresh, imaginative concepts that align with the client's goals and support the architecture and operations of the spaces they are designing. ADCI's interior designers are also savvy and aware of current trends regarding materials, colors and overall aesthetics. Interior designers also work closely with the architects and other team professionals to document finishes, materials, specifications and renderings for our projects

Responsibility Highlights

  • Create and develop design palettes that align with project goals
  • Using Revit and other software, document finishes, materials and other related elements for all phases of the design process
  • Research and select appropriate interior finishes and materials to meet both aesthetic and performance expectations
  • Prepare and participate in presentations to the client through all phases of the design process
  • Review submittals and shop drawings
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with team members, clients and contractors

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience
  • Working knowledge of Revit
